Public portfolios in FundStat – what you can check

A public portfolio answers how another strategy is doing – and whether yours looks better or worse next to it.

The full picture of someone else’s portfolio

The public page shows the portfolio value, total gain, daily result and returns – TWR and MWR – as well as the holdings with their share of the portfolio and the dividends received. You can switch the valuation to another currency.

Add to benchmarking

On the public portfolios list you tick the ones you want to follow, and they appear in portfolio benchmarking next to your return, indices and inflation – calculated with the same TWR method.

Hypothetical growth

The simulation shows what a hypothetical investment in the portfolio – say 10,000 PLN – would be worth today, in the amount and currency you choose. It’s easier to judge the result in money, not just in percentages.

Coming soon: model portfolios

We’re working on model portfolios, such as 80/20 – 80% stocks and 20% bonds. They’ll let you check whether your decisions earn more than a simple, passive strategy. You’ll be able to add them to benchmarking like any public portfolio.

Coming soon: 13F filing portfolios

US funds managing more than 100 million USD report their holdings every quarter on Form 13F. We’ll rebuild portfolios from them that you can add to benchmarking and compare with your own result.

Public investment portfolio – what visitors see

The public page uses the same calculations as the dashboard in the app. The owner decides whether to show the transaction history and whether to protect the portfolio with a password.

  • Value and total gainThe current portfolio value, the gain since the start and the daily result.
  • TWR and MWR returnsPortfolio return and investor return over time, charted from the first trade.
  • Holdings and allocationEach position’s share of the portfolio, average buy price, current price and gain.
  • DividendsThe payouts actually received in this portfolio.
  • Valuation currencyValues converted to the currency you pick, with the original transaction currencies unchanged.
  • Transaction historyShown only when the owner chooses to share it.
  • Password-protected accessSome portfolios open only after you enter the password from the owner.

How to compare yourself with a public portfolio – 3 steps

  1. 1

    Import your transactions

Transaction import lets FundStat calculate your portfolio’s return with the same method as the public portfolios.

  2. 2

    Pick a public portfolio

On the public portfolios list, tick Add to benchmarking next to the portfolios you want to compare.

  3. 3

    Compare the results

Open portfolio benchmarking, set the period and check the gap between your return and the selected portfolios in percentage points.
