FundStat mobile app: why we are choosing PWA first
FundStat is moving in a PWA direction for now. Here is why that is the fastest path for users, plus step-by-step install instructions for iOS and Android.
We know that many users naturally look for FundStat in the App Store or Google Play. For now, our mobile direction is a Progressive Web App (PWA): FundStat runs in the browser, but you can install it on your phone and open it from the home screen like a regular app.
This is a deliberate product decision. FundStat is changing quickly, and we ship many improvements across imports, calculations, portfolios, and dashboard workflows. A native app release cycle would slow that down. With a PWA, every user gets the latest version as soon as we deploy it.
That does not mean we are ignoring mobile. The opposite is true: we are treating the PWA as the mobile app experience we can improve fastest right now.
Why PWA is the right direction for now
The main goal is simple: keep FundStat improving quickly without making mobile users wait for app store releases. A PWA gives us that balance:
- Updates reach everyone immediately after release, without a manual app update.
- One product surface means fixes and improvements land on desktop and mobile together.
- You can still launch FundStat from your phone home screen in an app-like view.
- We can focus engineering time on portfolio features, imports, analytics, and mobile polish instead of maintaining separate native apps too early.
PWA now vs native app later
Why we are choosing it
- No app store delay when we improve calculations, imports, or portfolio views.
- Works on iOS and Android from the same FundStat web app.
- Keeps the team focused on features users need now, not duplicated mobile infrastructure.
What we will keep improving
- Some platform-specific mobile features can be more limited than in a fully native app.
- The install flow depends on the browser and operating system, so iOS and Android look different.
Where it could help
- Can offer deeper integration with the operating system.
- Can make some app-store discovery and notification flows more familiar.
- May become more useful once the main FundStat workflows stabilize further.
Why not yet
- Separate app releases would slow down fast product updates.
- Maintaining separate mobile apps too early would take time away from improving FundStat itself.
How to install FundStat on iOS and Android

How the PWA will keep improving
We will keep developing the FundStat PWA together with the overall product experience, so the mobile version benefits from the same ongoing improvements as the rest of the platform.
- The PWA will improve as FundStat becomes faster, clearer, and easier to use across the product.
- Mobile workflows will be refined gradually as we improve the dashboard, portfolio views, transactions, and account experience.
- We will keep polishing reliability, navigation, and day-to-day usability instead of treating the PWA as a separate side project.
- This lets us improve the mobile experience continuously while still shipping core FundStat updates quickly.
What this means for you
- Add FundStat to your phone home screen using the steps above.
- Use the installed icon for your regular portfolio checks.
- Send us feedback when something feels awkward on mobile, because that directly shapes the next PWA improvements.
